Eleven MKII Plugin Overview

Eleven MKII is the ultimate guitar tone and gear emulation solution included in Avid Pro Tools as one of their flagship stock plugins.

This plugin is capable of emulating the amplifier, cabinet and microphone you would have as part of your real guitar setup.

Anything from pristine clean to dirty distorted tones you can obtain with this incredible plugin.

Let’s go ahead and explore the different modules it contains.

  1. Open or create a new Pro Tools session:

For the purpose of this tutorial we have a Session that contains a single audio track with an electric guitar DI signal recorded to it.

Eleven MKII is designed to be added as a plugin (insert) on tracks that only contain DI signals.

2. Add “Eleven MKII” to the DI track as an insert:

The plugin window will open as:

At this point you can see the front of an amplifier head and part of a cabinet below.

The top area lets you select your amplifier head and cabinet, it also contains knobs for input and output control of the plugin:

The center section shows the actual amplifier head:

From this area you can set parameter that you would normally find on any amplifier head such as the gain, volume output, equalizer and vibrato controls.

The bottom area contains the cabinet and microphone modules:

The left part shows the cabinet area, and its configurations.

The right part shows the microphone selection and positioning.

It is easy to note how the plugin shows us everything on a single screen. No need to navigate thru different hidden menus or other windows.

And that is it! Now you go and experiment with Eleven MKII!
