Eleven MKII Cab Plugin Overview

Eleven MKII is the ultimate guitar tone and gear emulation solution included in Avid Pro Tools as one of their flagship stock plugins.

This plugin is capable of emulating the amplifier, cabinet and microphone you would have as part of your real guitar setup.

As part of the Eleven MKII bundle, you get another plugin called Eleven MKII Cab, which only contains the cabinet module of the original Eleven MKII plugin.

The reason for this, is simple…

If you are using another plugin just for the amplifier head emulation, and you need a cabinet, you can add this after the previous plugin in your insert chain, obtaining a complete guitar-to-amp-to-cabinet sound.

Let’s go ahead and explore this!

  1. Open or create a new Pro Tools session:

For the purpose of this tutorial we have a Session that contains a single audio track with an electric guitar DI signal recorded to it.

The DI track already has an amplifier head emulation plugin assigned to it, but no cabinet emulation.

Eleven MKII Cab is designed to be added as a plugin (insert) after any amplifier head emulation.

For the purpose of this tutorial we have the TSE X50 amp emulation added:

2. Add the Eleven MKII Cab plugin at the end of your current insert chain:

The plugin window will open as:

It is easy to note how the plugin only contains the Cabinet module of the original Eleven MKII.

You have access to the same amount of cabinet options:

And you can also access the same microphone options:

And that is it! Now you go and experiment with Eleven MKII Cab and obtain your desired guitar tone!
