Export MIDI in Cubase

Let’s say you are producing with virtual instruments in Cubase and you need to share the MIDI performance you recorded with another producer that has no Cubase.

How can you do this?

You need to export the MIDI part, so the other person can import it in their DAW and assign it to a virtual instrument.

Can you export MIDI in Cubase?

Yes you can, and here we go!

 

  1. Open your Cubase project:

Note the project contains one Instrument track with a MIDI performance in it.

 

2. Click on the track to select it:

3. From the top menu bar click on: File -> Export -> MIDI File:

The Export MIDI File window will open as:

4. Select the location in the hard drive where you want to export the MIDI file and type a name to the File:

5. Press “Save” and the “Export Options” window will appear as:

6. Click “OK”:

The MIDI File will be exported as:

And that is how you Export MIDI in Cubase! You can now share this file and open it in other DAWs.
