So let’s say you are working on a song, perhaps doing a remix, but you need tracks from another project.

You need to import tracks from an older project with their associated processing, not just the audio files.

Is this possible?

Indeed!

How can we do this?

Here we go!

  1. Open your Cubase Project:

From this window, there are several parameters we must explain such as:

  • Import Events and Parts: When this is checked, Cubase will import the track’s associated events and parts. The recommendation is that we always leave this ON.
  • Import Channel and Inspector Settings: When this is checked, Cubase will import the track’s associated channel and inspector’s settings. The recommendation is that we always leave this ON.
  • Import Automation: When this is checked, Cubase will import the track’s associated automation. The recommendation is that we always leave this ON.
  • Import at Absolute Position: When this is checked, Cubase will import the track at its absolute exact position. The recommendation is that we always leave this ON.
  • Copy media to Active Project Folder: When this is checked, Cubase will copy the track’s media to the active project folder.

For the purpose of this tutorial, these import settings look good. We can now import.

8. Press “OK” to import:
