How to boot to UEFI in Windows 8

How to boot to UEFI in Windows 8

To enter the UEFI BIOS settings on some computers, such as laptops, you will need to boot to the BIOS from the Windows 8 operating system.

NOTE: On Windows 7 machines, the UEFI is accessed by tapping the F2 (on laptops) or the DEL Key (on desktops) while the computer boots. Windows 7 does not boot to the UEFI from the Windows 7 software.

In some cases, you can access the BIOS on a Windows 8 computer by pressing either F2 or DEL on your keyboard while the computer boots or reboots.

If this doesn’t work, you can boot to the UEFI firmware from Windows 8.

To do this:

Press the Windows key on your system, and type “PC Settings” – then click PC settings in the found items.

In PC Settings, Select “Update and recovery”, then click “Recovery”, then click “Restart now” under “Advanced startup”.  The computer will reboot.

You will be presented with a screen which has an option, “Troubleshoot”, click on it.

Then click “Advanced options”.

Then click “UEFI Firmware Settings”. The computer will instruct you to reboot to boot into UEFI firmware settings.  Say OK.

The computer will reboot, and you will be loaded into your motherboard’s UEFI firmware settings. You can now make changes to your firmware as need be.
