How to Drag-and-Drop Inserts in Studio One

The following tutorial shows the user a basic overview of How to Drag-and-Drop Inserts in Studio One.

All Digital Audio Workstations let their users add inserts/plugins into their tracks in a serial (top-to-down) way in which the user must look from a list of plugins every time an inserts wants to be added, normally from the MIX or Console view of the software. Studio One 4 presents a “drag-and-drop” alternative way to add plugins in which the user can simply click and drag them into the desired track, ultimately saving time from the session.

This tutorial will present a basic overview of how to add inserts using the drag-and-drop method Studio One 4:

  1. Open a Studio One 4 Song that contains at least one track:

2. Locate at the bottom right corner of the screen:

3. Click on “Browse”:

The Browse tab will open as:

4. From the Browser tab, click on “Effects”:

The program will show a list by manufacturer of all the inserts that cam be applied so the user can select any of these.

For the purpose of this tutorial, we will add the “Pro EQ” included on Studio One 4.

 

 

5. Click on “PreSonus” and the PreSonus list of inserts will show as:

Look for the “ProEQ” by scrolling down on the list:

6. Click and drag on the ProEQ into the audio track:

As soon as the click has been released, the insert will be automatically added to the track and the plugin window will appear so the user can start tweaking its controls.

The user can now operate the insert that has been added to the track.
