Position Markers in Cubase

So, as the name says is, position markers let you set a specified position in Cubase that you can quickly “jump” to in order to move faster within the timelime.

We typically create position markers for each part of the song, such as Verse, Chorus, Bridge, so that we can toggle between this more efficiently.

How do you do this?

Here we go!

  1. Open your Cubase project:

Note for this tutorial you need to create your Marker Track first:

It is easy to see, we have a “Synth” track, and a Markers track.

Let’s say we want to create a Position Marker on bar 1, and another one on bar 9.

2. Set the playback at bar 1 and locate the Markers track:

3. Click on the “Add Position Marker” button:

Marker will be added as:

4. Now advance to bar #9:

5. Click on “Add Position Marker” again and the marker will be created as:

So now we have two Positions Markers:

How do we toggle the position of these two?

Easy!

6. On the Markers Track, click on “Locate”:

The following drop-down list will appear:

7. Click on Marker 2 and the playback location will snap to bar 9:

8. Click on Marker 1 and the playback location will snap to bar 1:

And that is how you create and use your Position Markers in Cubase!

We hope you found this tutorial on Position Markers in Cubase helpful!
