Alternate Tool Menu in Studio One 4

The following tutorial shows the user an overview of the Alternate Tool Menu in Studio One 4.

Need a Pro Audio laptop to run Presonus Studio One 4 software and all of its features at its best? Check out the MC Mobile line of Pro Audio Laptops from PCAudioLabs.

Studio One 4 gives their users the possibility of toggling between the Arrow Tool and any other tool of the tool menu by simply holding command (on a Mac). This ability is crucial for the engineer when performing tasks like editing, in which the constant switch between slicing audio and dragging it will happen. Instead of manually switching with the mouse from the Arrow Tool to the Slice Tool, the user can simply assign the slice tool as the Alternate Tool and hold command to toggle between these two.

This tutorial will present a step-by-step process on how to setup the Alternate Tool in Studio One 4:

  1. Open a Studio One 4 song:

3. Select any tool of the alternate tool menu by clicking on it.

As soon as the Split Tool has been selected, it is easy to see how a blue line will appear under it indicating it is currently set as the alternate tool:
