PreSonus has officially released the latest update for their flagship software Studio One, now featuring version 4.6, which can be downloaded for free from Studio One 4.5. On this tutorial we will present the new features added to this important update. The list will be divided into five blog entries, this is the second part.

Studio One 4.6 includes almost 30 new functions and improvements that help the traditional engineer, composer and musician as well as the modern non-linear producer.
The fourth new feature we will be evaluating is the new Podcast Production Song Template included with Studio One 4.6.
In order to help the PreSonus Studio One users that are constantly working on podcasts and radio talk shows, PreSonus has decided to include a new Song Template destined for Podcast Productions.
In order to use the new Podcast Production Template, the user must open Studio One software first:
Then, click on “Create a New Song”. The “New Song” window will open as:
From the “Styles” tab, click on “Podcast Production” in order to select it:
The user can now press “OK” and the new song file will be created using the Podcast Production template as:
It is easy to note from the previous picture, the template contains 3 pre-created tracks, destined for the Music bed, the Host and the Guest speaker. These tracks are already color-coded, they have their associated comments written, and the microphone inputs have been selected:
Also note from the MIX tab how the template includes a “Room” track to simulate a natural Room Reverb for the speakers. Also, inserts have been applied to all the tracks and a side-chain to the compressor “ducking” the music track has been added:
Finally, the Main output track has a Channel Strip insert applied with some equalization and limiting set:
At this point we have evaluated the most important aspects of the Podcast Production Template included in Studio One 4.6. The user is encouraged to experiment with this template and create his or her own podcasts and radio talk shows.
